As part of their Doctors’ Day (March 30) celebration, St. Francis Hospital & Health Services is proud to announce that four members of its medical staff have been recognized for achieving outstanding patient satisfaction ratings.
Doctors Thomas DiStefano (orthopedic surgery), Michael Feuerbacher (family practice), Jane Dawson (ob/gyn) , and Kristyn Menendez (ob/gyn) have all received personal patient satisfaction rankings in the top ten percent of physicians nationwide during the 2009 calendar year.
“Our ‘Top Docs’ ranked among the best for patient satisfaction compared to all other physicians throughout the country,” says Gray Cox, Hospital President. “Tens of thousands of physicians all over the nation are included in these rankings; therefore, it is quite an impressive distinction as well as an honor.”
Since 2000, St. Francis has regularly surveyed all patients at the hospital and compared, or benchmarked, its performance against over 2,000 hospitals using the Press Ganey patient satisfaction process. As part of the survey, patients are asked to rank their physician on several indicators including the time the physician spent with the patient, the physician’s concern for patients’ questions and worries, how well he/she kept the patient informed, friendliness and courtesy of the physician, and the skill of the physician.
Press Ganey Associates, a leading independent vendor of satisfaction measurement and improvement services, conducts a random sampling of patients after their hospital stay or visit. Results for inpatient, emergency department, outpatient surgery, and outpatient tests/treatment care are then benchmarked against other hospitals in the Press Ganey database. Hospital-specific scores allow hospital leadership to gauge current performance and track improvements over time.
