St. Francis Rehab & Sports Medicine is pleased to announce the addition of Erin Dorrel, MPT, to their physical therapy staff.
Dorrel completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Education degree. She later received a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Rockhurst University in Kansas City with an emphasis in outpatient sports medicine.
As part of her undergraduate program, Dorrel trained in a sports medicine clinic in Kansas City where she later worked as a tech. Her experience in this setting propelled her desire to work with orthopedic patients especially young athletes.
Dorrel has 12 years’ experience in physical therapy, with the majority of her career spent in the Kansas City area. She helped open five physical therapy clinics over a five year period. She has seen a lot of patients with sports injuries including members of the Kansa City T-Bones, the professional minor league baseball team.
After marriage and moving to Maryville, Dorrel worked for two years at Golden Living Center. She began her part-time position at St. Francis on July 23.
“I am learning a lot,” Dorrel said. “With the computer system (electronic health record), it feels like I’m a new grad again.”
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to share my experience to help expand the services available here,” Dorrel said. ”I’m excited to get back into my area of interest.” Frank Grispino, Rehab & Sports Medicine Director, notes that the addition of Dorrel provides a very positive impact on the group dynamics of the department. “Erin is a very positive and professional person. We are really excited to have her on our team.”, he said.
